Amagasaki is a town with a down-to-earth, friendly atmosphere that is said to be more Osaka-like than Osaka itself. It is also a town with a long history dating back to the Yayoi period.

AMAGASAKI AREA

  • Amagasaki Ebisu Shrine is said to have been founded before the reign of Emperor Daigo. It is loved in the sea city of Amagasaki as "Amanoebesan," the god of prosperity in business and protecting fishing and voyages, and it is said that the lives of fishermen flourished here.
    The large torii gate soaring into the sky is 17m high, has a 22m top beam and 1.6m diameter pillars. Its majestic appearance has become the symbol of Amagasaki.

    The Amagasaki Canal Cruise is a 60-minute activity that takes you around the canal and Japan's largest Panama Canal (Amagasaki Locks).It is a new activity that allows you to rediscover the charm of the sea of Amagasaki, a city of "human kindness" and "manufacturing."
    There are also set plans available, such as a fishing experience where you can participate empty-handed, and a BBQ experience where you can eat the fish you catch, so you can enjoy it with your family and friends.

  • Amagasaki Sports Forest

    A vast sports facility that can be enjoyed all year round.
    The facility can be used for a wide range of purposes, from team sports to individual use, with an international standard swimming pool, ice skating rink (in winter), a futsal court equipped with night lighting, a sports gym, and a family pool (open only in summer).
    Business hours, closures, and fees vary by facility.

  • Amagasaki Castle

    Amagasaki Castle was built by Toda Ujikane in 1617 during the Edo period, but was demolished in 1873 due to the castle abolition order.
    The current castle was recently reconstructed and opened to the public in March 2019.

  • Amagasaki Castle

    It was installed in March 2019 to commemorate the reconstruction of Amagasaki Castle.
    The shachihoko (roof ornament) on top of the retro-looking round post is a replica, approximately 1/3 the size of the shachihoko tile on the castle tower of Amagasaki Castle.
    The information board next to it has the message inscribed on it: "We pray that the shachihoko will protect any letters sent from here and bring them happiness."

  • Amagasaki Central/Sanwa Hondori Shopping Street

    The largest shopping street in the Hanshin area, with 600 stores. Stretching from Hanshin Amagasaki Station to the neighboring Deyashiki Station, this shopping street is one of the largest in the Hanshin area. This down-to-earth, friendly shopping street is recommended for a stroll. Regular holidays and business hours vary depending on the store.

  • Temple Town

    A town of temples lined with important cultural properties.
    When Amagasaki Castle was constructed in 1617, the temples scattered around the area were gathered together to form Teramachi. Miraculously spared from war damage, the townscape still retains the same appearance as it did back then. It is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Cross the street on the west side of Hanshin Amagasaki Station and walk a little south until you see the temple on your right. The area west of here is Teramachi, and there are information boards in various places.
    A stroll through the 11 temples, many of which are designated as important cultural properties, whilst reading the explanations, is recommended for those with an interest in history.

  • A small Japanese garden-like park located a 5-minute walk from Hanshin Deyashiki Station.
    From late February to early March, vibrant red and white plum blossoms bloom in full glory.

  • Rape blossoms

    The rape blossoms spread across the riverbed like a yellow carpet.
    It's a great place for a walk on a warm day. The rape blossoms are at their best in early March.

  • In May, about 640 roses of 30 varieties bloom along the Yomogawa River, filling the area with a gorgeous fragrance.
    If you're lucky, you might even be able to take a photo with the train.
    It is about a 5-minute walk from Hanshin Deyashiki Station and about a 30-minute walk from the hotel, so it is a good distance for walking.

  • Cosmos

    Approximately 5.5 million cosmos flowers, lovingly cultivated by local volunteers, spread across the riverbed.
    It is also a popular spot to take photos of flowers with the Shinkansen passing in the background.
    The best time to see the flowers is from mid-October to mid-November.

    Access From "Hanshin Amagasaki Station", take Hanshin Bus Route 43 "To Miyanokita Danchi" and get off at "Nishi Konyo". Follow the signs and walk for 5 minutes.
  • Ginkgo Tree Line at Oda Minami Park

    In late November, you can see rows of beautiful ginkgo trees shining golden.
    It is a 20-minute walk from the hotel and is also recommended for walking.

  • Mizudou Susanoo Shrine

    Mizudou Susanoo Shrine is a beautiful shrine with magnificent ceiling paintings and a flower water basin decorated with flowers of the four seasons.
    The eye-catching ceiling painting in the worship hall, "Man'yo Flowers," with its vivid blues and greens and intricately painted flowers, was painted as a memorial to the victims of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.

    Access Take the Hanshin bus bound for Takarazuka Station from Amagasaki Cultural Center. Get off at Mizudo. About a 10-minute walk.
