  • Toji Temple

    The five-story pagoda is the tallest in Japan.
    Its official name is Kyoogokokuji Temple. The highlight is the three-dimensional mandala made up of many Buddha statues in the lecture hall.

  • Jonangu Shrine

    The shrine of Hojo, featured in "The Tale of Genji: The Flower Garden."
    When the capital was moved to Heian, the shrine was built to the south of the royal palace (the capital) in prayer for the peace of the country and the protection of the capital, and so it came to be called Jonan-gu.

  • Sennyuji Temple

    It grants women's wishes, such as prayers for beauty and finding a partner.
    This is a prestigious temple also known as the Imperial Temple, as it is the family temple of the Imperial family. The Buddhist hall was rebuilt by Tokugawa Ietsuna. It is said to grant prayers for beauty, marriage, and other wishes.

  • Daigoji Temple

    It has been known as "Flower DAIGO" since the Heian period, and is also famous for being the place where Toyotomi Hideyoshi held cherry blossom viewing parties.
    This temple has a vast area with the entirety of DAIGO within its grounds. The five-story pagoda, built in 951 to commemorate DAIGO, is the oldest wooden structure in Kyoto Prefecture.

  • Tofukuji Temple

    The view from Tsutenkyo Bridge is amazing.
    One of the Kyoto Gozan. The largest Zen temple in Kyoto. It was named "Tofukuji" after one character from Nara's Todaiji and Kofukuji. The "Hasso Garden" by Mirei Shigemori is a must-see.

  • Rokusonno Shrine

    Located near Toji Temple, this shrine enshrines Rokusonno-no-Minamoto no Tsunemoto, who is said to be the ancestor of the Seiwa Genji clan. It is also known as a famous spot for flowers such as cherry blossoms and hydrangeas, and the drum bridge that crosses the pond where carp swim is also called the "Love (carp) Bridge" and is said to bring good fortune in finding a good partner.
