Eikando Temple

World Heritage Site Kiyomizu-dera Temple

World Heritage Site Ginkakuji Temple (Jishoji Temple)
Its simple appearance exudes the aesthetic sense of "wabi-sabi" and is a symbol of Higashiyama culture.

Kenninji Temple
The oldest Zen temple in Kyoto.
The temple was founded by Zen master Eisai, who is known as the father of tea, and who first brought tea to Japan in 1202. Kodaiji Temple
This temple, dedicated to Hideyoshi's wife, Nene, preserves Momoyama culture to this day.
This temple was built in 1606 by Nene Kita no Mandokoro to commemorate the soul of her husband, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Konkai Komyoji Temple
Konkai-Komyoji Temple is famous as the birthplace of the Shinsengumi and also for being the headquarters of the Aizu clan.

Sanjusangendo
This temple was founded by Taira no Kiyomori in 1164. It is said that among the 1001 Thousand-Armed Kannon statues, there is one with a face that resembles the person you wish to meet.

Chion-in Temple
The Sanmon Gate (a national treasure), the head temple of the Jodo sect, is the largest wooden gate in Japan.

Nanzenji Temple

The head temple of the Nanzenji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism. Heian Shrine
Its symbol is the gigantic torii gate, and it is known throughout the country for its Jidai Matsuri festival.

Yasaka Shrine
Affectionately known to locals as "Gion-san," this ancient shrine is the venue for the Gion Festival.
