In addition to Kamigamo Shrine, Shimogamo Shrine, Daitokuji Temple, and Shugakuin Temple, the area is also home to the Osaka Prefectural Botanical Gardens, Takaragaike Pond, and Kitayama-dori and Shirakawa-dori streets where you can enjoy shopping and gourmet food.

KYOTO RAKUHOKU

  • The oldest shrine in Kyoto.

    World Heritage Site. Its official name is Kamo Wakeikazuchi Shrine. It is widely believed to be a deity that wards off evil, and since the capital was moved to Heian, it has also been worshiped as the guardian deity of the evil direction and the deity of the landlord.

  • This is Kyoto's most powerful power spot, and is also where the legend of Ushiwakamaru meeting a Tengu remains.

    It was founded by the disciple of the monk Ganjin, Gantei, in 770. The Reihoden Hall houses the statue of Bishamonten, a national treasure.

    Ojo Gokuraku-in Temple, which houses the national treasure Amida Triad, is located in the beautiful Yusei-en Garden, which is lined with cedar trees and moss.

  • One of Kyoto's most famous ancient shrines, which also appears in the "Shoku Nihongi."

    Its official name is Kamomioya Shrine. The grounds are lined with shrine buildings reminiscent of the Heian period, including the main hall and tower gate, which are national treasures, and the entire Tadasu-no-Mori forest is registered as a World Heritage Site.
