Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace Initiative
Providing tourism that enriches people and the planet
The breakfast menu has been revamped to incorporate more ingredients from Mie
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of its opening, Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace has renewed its breakfast menu from April 2022. As part of its collaboration with the local community, the breakfast menu now incorporates more ingredients and processed products from Mie Prefecture. Western dishes used Matsusaka pork, green laver, and Kumano Jyoyo eggs, while Japanese dishes used Mie citrus juice, Toshijima whitebait, and Ise red sea bream. The rice has been changed to Mie's brand rice, "Musubi no Kami."
Values coexistence with the local community, and hosts tasting events using ingredients and local sake from Mie Prefecture
Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace values coexistence with the local community and serves dishes made with local ingredients and processed products from Mie Prefecture, as well as local sake and wine from Mie Prefecture. The head chef personally visits producers in Mie Prefecture and holds a "food tasting event" two to three times a year, using carefully selected ingredients. On the day of the event, producers are invited to the venue to talk about their passion for ingredients, local sake, and other products. In 2023, a French dinner tasting event was held on Thursday, April 20th and Thursday, October 26th, and a Japanese lunch tasting event was held on Sunday, May 14th.
Contributing to the realization of a decarbonized, recycling-oriented society
Switch to Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee
At Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace, the coffee served as an additional service in the guest rooms (Ocean Wing) has been changed to drip coffee that is Rainforest Alliance certified. Sustainable coffee is already being used in the cafe and restaurant, and now all coffee served in the hotel is in line with the SDGs.
Miyako Resort Okushima Aqua Forest uses coffee beans from Rainforest Alliance certified farms at its restaurant, Hamanagi. These coffee beans are certified by an international non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is to protect biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods for people, and are produced in strict compliance with standards that are kind to the global environment and contribute to sustainable production areas and improving the lives of workers and their families.
EV chargers installed and service started
Ten Terra Charge EV chargers will be installed at Miyako Hotel Gifu Nagaragawa, Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo, and Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace, and charging services will begin in February 2024, providing comfortable and sustainable travel and accommodation experiences.
As the spread of EVs and the expansion of EV charging infrastructure are accelerating rapidly toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, we have put in place the infrastructure to enable EV owners to travel in their EVs with peace of mind.
