Miyako Hotel Gifu Nagaragawa Initiative
Providing tourism that enriches people and the planet
Children from an orphanage are invited to experience making tents and hot sandwiches and exploring the hotel.
Through the Gifu Prefectural Social Welfare Council, Miyako Hotel Gifu Nagaragawa invited children (40 people in total) from child welfare facilities near the hotel on two occasions starting in October 2022, where they experienced making tents and hot sandwiches on the top-floor terrace and explored the hotel.
In December 2023, we held a Christmas party inviting children from three foster care facilities belonging to the Gifu Prefecture Child Welfare Council. Approximately 80 children aged between 4 and 18 participated, enjoying a buffet-style meal, a concert, and a s'mores experience (roasted marshmallows, etc.) around a bonfire on the terrace. At the climax, employees dressed as Santa Claus handed out Christmas presents, making for a meaningful Christmas. We will continue to work to provide experiences and services that can be done at the hotel for the children who will lead the future and the local community.

This activity is carried out voluntarily by the hotel as part of the "Gifu City Adopt Program Gifu Town Development Team," which was registered in November 2021, and aims to encourage people to develop an attachment to the town they live in and to take the initiative in beautifying the area. It is carried out alternately in the area around JR Gifu Station. We will continue to work to create a town that is sustainable.

As part of its contribution to the local community, Miyako Hotel Gifu Nagaragawa hosted 36 eighth grade students (second year junior high school students) from Gifu University Elementary and Junior High School, Faculty of Education, for a field trip in September 2023. The school is currently studying a new area called "how to live," and as they consider their own future, they had the opportunity to learn about "what is happiness in work," by visiting and learning from employees who actually work at the hotel, as well as spending valuable time with them during question and answer sessions.
