Starting in December 2022 , Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo will be holding a "small concert" once a month in the lobby on weekends. This concert, performed by students from Kyoto City University of Arts, will be the 15th in March 2024. The first time was a mini-concert in search of a venue near the station by volunteers from the university's music department to promote the campus's relocation to the east of Kyoto Station in 2023. The students' desire to make music accessible and enjoy its joy resonated with the hotel's desire to contribute to the community through hospitality. In support of their activities, the concert has developed into a free-to-view, regular concert hosted by the hotel, which is enjoyed by many guests every month.

Starting July 26, 2021, Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo will be selling an accommodation plan that includes a ticket for a Kyoto public bath, a bath set, and an original hotel public bath T-shirt. This plan is imbued with the desire to connect local Kyoto public baths, which continue to work hard to keep the flame of public bath culture alive, with Kyoto fans who want to experience everyday Kyoto that is a little different from the tourist experience. Through this "Public Bath Operation," we aim to collaborate with and revitalize the local community.

Since December 2021, Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo has been working with Kyoto Prefectural Agricultural High School to learn about and practice the importance of food and the SDGs. The hotel turns eggs, meat, vegetables, and other produce produced at Kyoto Prefectural Agricultural High School into safe and secure dishes for guests to enjoy.
In addition, from August 4, 2022, we will start operating "Compost" with the goal of recycling food waste and circulating food. By providing herbs grown in soil composted from vegetable waste from the kitchen in the restaurant, we will realize a small-scale service aiming for a circular society.

Starting in December 2022, Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo will be decorating the west entrance of the hotel with flowers four times a year as part of the "#Medel-Megul Hotel" initiative. This activity, which uses compost from the hotel's compost pile to create flower beds, is part of the "#TaberuMeguruHotel" SDG initiative, which is being undertaken in collaboration with Kyoto Prefectural Agricultural High School. Working alongside the Agricultural High School students every time is the garden staff, who are the unsung heroes of the hotel. Although not in a particularly conspicuous position, the event was planned with the aim of raising awareness of the important behind-the-scenes work that maintains the hotel's landscape and beauty, and also to provide the high school students with an opportunity to interact with senior staff whose profession is to cultivate and care for flowers and plants.

Ten Terra Charge EV chargers will be installed at Miyako Hotel Gifu Nagaragawa, Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo, and Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace, and charging services will begin in February 2024, providing comfortable and sustainable travel and accommodation experiences.
As the spread of EVs and the expansion of EV charging infrastructure are accelerating rapidly toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, we have put in place the infrastructure to enable EV owners to travel in their EVs with peace of mind.

In June, which is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo launched an afternoon tea filled with colorful sweets and fruits with a rainbow motif, the symbolic color of the rainbow that celebrates diversity.
By experiencing various "individuality" and "the joy of differences," we hope to raise awareness of diversity, and we express our support for a society that accepts diversity in order to "be a comfortable hotel for everyone" through our afternoon tea.
