Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka Initiatives
Providing tourism that enriches people and the planet
Conducting local community contribution activities (local cleanup)
As part of its efforts to support the development of the local community, Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka continues to carry out cleanup activities around Uehommachi Terminal, where the hotel is located.
Contributing to the realization of a decarbonized, recycling-oriented society
Donating lettuce scraps and bread to Tennoji Zoo
Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka will begin donating leftover lettuce from its kitchens to Tennoji Zoo from the end of 2023, and discarded bread from October 2024. This is an environmental measure that will help reduce food waste, albeit slightly (about 4-5 kg provided per week), so the hotel hopes to continue this initiative. The lettuce scraps are mainly used as food for chimpanzees at the zoo, and the bread is mainly used as food for harvest mice and Egyptian fruit bats, making it a mutually beneficial activity that will reduce food costs for the zoo.
Solar power system installation
Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka has installed a solar power generation system with a battery capacity of 100kW and an installation area of approximately 1,200m² on the roof of its banquet hall in an effort to reduce CO2 emissions.
Participating in Earth Hour
Four hotels - Sheraton Miyako Hotel Tokyo Hotel Tokyo, Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka, The Westin Miyako Kyoto, and Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel - are participating in "EARTH HOUR," one of the world's largest social good projects, in which hotels turn off their lights at the same time on the same day around the world to show their commitment to preventing global warming and protecting the environment.
Ensuring safety and pursuing peace of mind
Installation of sanitary boxes in men's restrooms
At Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka, we have decided to install sanitary boxes in the men's restrooms as well, with the aim of improving customer satisfaction and creating an environment in which the hotel can be easily used by as many people as possible. We plan to continue installing more units as needed.
