Shima Kanko Hotel opened in Ise-Shima, an area that has been known since ancient times as "Mikketsukuni" (Land of Food), and is located within Ise-Shima National Park. Located in a land blessed with ingredients from the mountains and sea, the hotel is committed to "gastronomy," conveying the appeal of ingredients through its cuisine.
Every month we hold an " Ise-Shima Gastronomy" tasting event, where we serve dishes that bring out the best in local ingredients and talks by those involved in their production, promoting the charm and culinary richness of the Ise- Ise-Shima region of Mie Prefecture.

As part of the food education initiative undertaken by the Shima City Board of Education School Lunch Center in December 2022, Executive Chef Hiroe Higuchi at Shima Kanko Hotel devised and supervised a menu using local ingredients such as spiny lobster, miso, citrus fruits, and green laver. The dishes were served to approximately 3,000 children from 13 elementary and junior high schools in the city, and a social event was also held on the same day, where producers participated and introduced the importance of ingredients and the attention to detail in cooking, and the children listened intently to the talk.

We created an afternoon tea stand using wood from Ise no Mori. Three different types of wood were used to express the diversity and natural richness of Mie's forests.
Additionally, workshops for guests are held using wood from Owase Hinoki and Ise no Mori.
In 2021, these activities were recognized and the company was certified as having the "Wood Use Declaration," which actively promotes the use of wood from Mie Prefecture. Going forward, the company will also continue to produce coasters using recycled wood from furniture and other sources, and will continue to work to protect the richness of forests.

In August 2022, Shima Kanko Hotel produced original coasters using various tree species grown in Ise Forest, Mie Prefecture, and began using and selling them in the hotel facilities. Using eight types of high-quality wood that would otherwise be left over when making furniture, the hotel also focuses on the mountain environment, which is the source of the ocean's richness, and hopes that guests will feel the warmth of wood and the cycle of nature.
