Ise Katagami Making
Experience traditional Mie crafts by carving stencils and dyeing postcards, money envelopes, and fans.
Ise katagami are stencils used to dye patterns and designs on kimono fabrics, including yuzen, yukata, and komon. They are designated as traditional craft tools by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. The stencils are carved and used to apply seasonal and traditional patterns to postcards, small gift envelopes, and notebooks.
