Kumano Kodo Ise road
The Kumano Kodo Iseji, a path of prayer connecting two major sacred sites
The Kumano Kodo is the general name for the ancient roads that connect the Kumano Sanzan (Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha, and Kumano Nachi Taisha) in the southern part of the Kii Peninsula with Ise, Osaka, Wakayama, Koyasan, and Yoshino.
It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
The Iseji Route, which runs south through the eastern Kii Peninsula, connects Ise Shrine with the Kumano Sanzan shrines and is a route of faith known as "seven times to Ise, three times to Kumano."
In addition to the stone pavement and bamboo forest typical of the Kumano Kodo, you can also enjoy courses that offer a panoramic view of the Kumano Nada Sea from the pass.
