Regarding the Issuance of Invoices and Receipts for Accommodation Services
Thank you very much for your continued patronage.
Currently, when making a reservation with advance payment through a travel agency or hotel reservation site, the agency issues the receipt, so the hotel does not issue a "receipt" that meets the requirements for a qualified invoice.
Additionally, we have confirmed that receipts issued by some accommodation booking sites do not correspond to Japanese domestic invoices.
If necessary, the hotel will issue a "qualified simplified invoice" (lodging details) as evidence of input tax deduction, so please ask at the front desk.
For reservations where payment is made on-site, the hotel will issue a receipt that meets the requirements for a qualified invoice.
Please note that for package tours and other organized tours, hotels are unable to issue invoices, so please inquire at the travel agency you made your reservation with.
