AOI-DEN, Japanese Garden Garden is a stroll-style garden facing the AOI-DEN and MINORI Ma Hall. It is a majestic stroll-style garden that spreads out on the southern slope of AOI-DEN and is made up of a three-tiered waterfall. It was registered as a Kyoto City Cultural Property (Scenic Spot) in 1994. This garden was created in 1933 by Ogawa Jihei VII (known as Ueji, 1866-1933), a famous Kyoto gardener who was a pioneer of modern Japanese gardens. It is a symbol of our hotel's long history and rich cultural and natural environment.

Stained Glass

Stained glass depicting Kyoto's three major festivals decorates the venue

The stained glass fitted into the transoms on three sides was created by Shintaro Kiuchi, who was said to be the leading artist at the time, and features a scroll-style design of the processions of Kyoto's three major festivals, the Aoi Festival, the Gion Festival, and the Jidai Festival. The Gion Festival section was removed when the front stage was installed in 1938 (Showa 13), but was restored to its original Taisho period state on the west side of the banquet hall during the full building renovation in 1991 (Heisei 4), for the first time in half a century.
