The Westin Miyako Kyoto"Monet's Water Lilies" collaboration

From Friday, March 7th to Sunday, June 8th, 2025, we will be offering a special menu in collaboration with "Monet's Water Lilies," an exhibition at the Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto.
This exhibition brings together approximately 50 pieces by Claude Monet, a leading Impressionist painter, including seven works that will be shown in Japan for the first time. The large-scale paintings of the Water Lilies, over 2 meters in size, will take you into the landscapes Monet painted. Our hotel will offer parfaits and cocktails that express Monet's worldview, reminiscent of the dining table and gardens of Monet's beloved Giverny Villa, as well as dishes that evoke the light and flowing breeze of the gardens and the beautiful water surface of the water lily pond.
* Those who apply will receive a novelty sticker (limited quantity, while stocks last)

Giverny is a small, picturesque village located near a tributary of the Seine, an hour by train from Paris, and is home to a mansion and water garden brimming with Japanese atmosphere that Monet himself discovered, planned and created.
Monet loved gardening, so the dishes made with the vegetables and herbs he had painstakingly grown were prepared in a blue kitchen reminiscent of hydrangeas, and served to a small dining table in a yellow dining room reminiscent of a mimosa in full bloom. These sunny, happiness-filled dishes, which would have been the driving force behind the completion of his masterpiece Water Lilies in his later years, are arranged in Dominique Bouchet's style and served to Monet's favorite foods. Enjoy colorful dishes as colorful as the palettes of impressionist painters.

Scallop mousse with lotus motif and lobster jelly

■Scallop mousse with lobster jelly Water lilies float gracefully in the clear blue pond of the Giverny gardens. Chef Sako was fascinated and inspired by the water lilies, which are painted so that you can almost feel their breath, and created this creation. The mirror-like water surface is expressed with lobster jelly, a specialty of Chef Dominique, and the water lilies are made to bloom with scallop mousse, onion, and lily root. The gold leaf gently placed on the water lilies creates a dish that evokes the soft sunlight and gentle breeze of spring in Giverny.

Garlic soup

■Garlic Soup A recipe book discovered in the kitchen of Monet's Giverny estate contained many recipes for soup, and it is said that Monet was particularly fond of nutritious garlic soup. This recipe uses simple ingredients such as garlic, eggs, croutons, and parsley, but has been modified by adding tomatoes. One sip of this soup will warm you up, and it's exciting to think that it was a dish that supported Monet's creative energy.

Sole Normandy style

■ Normandy-style sole Monet, who lived his whole life by the Seine, loved Normandy. This dish expresses its rich food culture and the bounty of the sea. Fresh sole is carefully steamed and finished with a creamy sauce made with cider and Calvados, Normandy's representative specialties, and is accompanied by mussels, clams, and langoustines. Enjoy this dish with the rich aroma of the sea, as if you were eating it at a seaside restaurant.

Gateau Vert Vert

■Gâteau Vert Vert Created outdoors in the changing light and air, this is a sweet that is characteristic of Monet, skillfully depicting the vitality of plants. Vert is French for "green." Vert Vert means "all green," and uses pistachios and spinach to express a garden filled with fresh greenery. This sweet, whose appearance and taste change drastically depending on the amount of each ingredient, was born after much trial and error, and is a masterpiece that Monet is proud of.

This parfait expresses the sparkle of light reflected on the surface of Monet's Water Lilies. The dreamy and vivid gradation of the blue curacao and Grand Marnier jelly is impressive. The espuma wrapped around vanilla ice cream, delicate white chocolate mousse, and grapefruit and orange pulp are layered together, allowing you to enjoy the world of light and water that Monet pursued with a refreshing taste.

Ondine

The cocktail "Ondine" is a representation of the water gardens beloved by the Impressionist master Monet, in a glass.
Based on the blue gin "Magellan" from the Cognac region of France, this drink is inspired by the water lily gardens of Giverny. The elegant lime peel arch bridge across the glass and the adorable strawberry decorations in the shape of Nishikigoi carp evoke the ideal gardens painted by Monet.
