Changes to the Kyoto City Accommodation Tax System (from March 1, 2026)

The Kyoto City accommodation tax rate will be revised from March 1, 2026 (Sunday).
This tax rate will apply to stays starting March 1, 2026 (Sunday), regardless of the booking date.
■After revision [March 1, 2026 (Sunday) onwards]
- Accommodation fee less than 6,000 yen: Tax amount 200 yen - Accommodation fee between 6,000 yen and 20,000 yen: Tax amount 400 yen - Accommodation fee between 20,000 yen and 50,000 yen: Tax amount 1,000 yen - Accommodation fee between 50,000 yen and 100,000 yen: Tax amount 4,000 yen - Accommodation fee of 100,000 yen or more: Tax amount 10,000 yen
■Before revision [Until February 28, 2026 (Saturday)]
- Accommodation fee less than 20,000 yen: Tax amount 200 yen - Accommodation fee between 20,000 yen and less than 50,000 yen: Tax amount 500 yen - Accommodation fee of 50,000 yen or more: Tax amount 1,000 yen
*The accommodation tax amount is per person, per night.
*The accommodation fee does not include the accommodation tax. Please pay it at the hotel.
*The accommodation fee for the purpose of the accommodation tax does not include meal charges, consumption tax, etc.
*Please note that when booking online, the displayed price does not include accommodation tax.
